Position Overview

The Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, and servicing of Makita products, including electric, cordless, and petrol tools, ensuring they meet quality standards and are repaired within company KPIs. This role requires a strong technical understanding of Makita tools and the ability to diagnose and repair issues with minimal assistance. The technician will also provide telephone support to internal and external customers, assist with warehouse operations (e.g., spare parts replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping), and ensure accurate data entry in the BPCS system.

In addition, the technician will adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and assist with other assignments as needed by the business. This position plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining efficient workshop operations, and supporting overall business objectives.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Tool Inspection & Repair: Diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of Makita power tools, including electric, cordless, and petrol models, to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Customer Support: Provide telephone support to internal teams (e.g., Sales, CSD) and external customers (e.g., distributors, end users) with technical queries and repair updates.
  • Technical Reporting: Document repairs, tool conditions, and job details in a clear, concise manner, ensuring accurate records are maintained in our BPCS system.
  • Warehouse Support: Assist with spare parts replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping of Makita products and components as needed.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside colleagues to troubleshoot and repair tools, sharing expertise and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

 

What We Are Looking For: 

  • Experience: Experience in a similar repair or technical role, ideally with power tools, machinery, or consumer electronics. Knowledge of Makita products is a plus!
  • Technical Skills: Proven ability to diagnose and repair a variety of tools, including electric, cordless, and petrol-powered models, with minimal assistance.
  • Customer-focused: Excellent communication skills to provide clear, helpful technical support to both customers and internal teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in repairs, documentation, and inventory management.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of workshop safety protocols, including fire safety and tool-specific safety procedures.
  • IT Proficiency: Comfortable with repair management systems (e.g., BPCS) to track repairs and input job details.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve repair processes and provide assistance when needed.
  • Flexible & Reliable: Willingness to work overtime as required, and dependable in meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards.
  • Proactive: A self-motivated individual who takes initiative and seeks continuous improvement in their work.
